The Georgia Board of Nursing deems Southwest Georgia Area Health Education Center (SOWEGA-AHEC) as an acceptable provider for nursing continuing education (CE). This activity is approved for 6.0 CE hour toward the continuing education competency requirements for Georgia nursing licensure renewal. Activity #2019-02.
OBJECTIVE: Nursing CE
At the end of the presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Recognize the current state of opioid crisis in the United States
- Determine appropriate pain management
- Detail opioid reversal agents
- Compare and contrast the mechanism of action, monitoring parameters, dosing, and appropriate use of NOACs
- Adjust pharmacotherapeutic plans after evaluation of therapy for efficacy, adverse effects, and drug-drug, drug-food, or drug-disease state interactions
- Recall the newest recommendations on adult vaccinations
- Detail the importance of adult vaccinations
- Identify major causes of bacteremia and infective endocarditis
- Discuss treatment recommendations for bacteremia and infective endocarditis
- Define the impact of Advanced Practice Providers on antibiotic prescribing practices
- Optimize antibiotic therapies in patients reporting antibiotic allergens
- Appropriately diagnose urinary tract infections (UTIs), skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs), and community acquired pneumonia (CAP)
- Prescribe appropriate antibiotic therapies for patients with UTIs, SSTIs, and CAP
- Determine evidence-based durations of antibiotic therapy for UTIs, SSTIs, and CAP
- Detail the prevalence of atrial fibrillation
- Discuss the pathophysiology and risk for atrial fibrillation
- Determine available treatment strategies including anticoagulation, rhythm and rate control strategies.
