DESCRIPTION:

This event is designed to meet the new Composite Medical Board CME requirements and will cover H.B. 249 Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the scope of the opioid epidemic and opioid use disorders.
  2. Properly utilize available provider resources, including recent opioid prescribing guidelines and the prescription drug monitoring database (PDMP).
  3. Discuss management strategies for acute intoxication and withdrawal.
  4. Recognize and provide treatment and/or referral for patients with or at risk for opioid use disorders and concurrent substance use disorders.
