DESCRIPTION:
This event is designed to meet the new Composite Medical Board CME requirements and will cover H.B. 249 Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe the scope of the opioid epidemic and opioid use disorders.
- Properly utilize available provider resources, including recent opioid prescribing guidelines and the prescription drug monitoring database (PDMP).
- Discuss management strategies for acute intoxication and withdrawal.
- Recognize and provide treatment and/or referral for patients with or at risk for opioid use disorders and concurrent substance use disorders.
